Founder and Principal Consultant

Cindy Funk

In 1993, Cindy Funk co-founded Funk & Myers, Inc. alongside her husband, Mike Myers, to establish a popcorn manufacturing operation Myers Gourmet Popcorn in Cascade, Colorado, a historic mountain community west of Colorado Springs. The entrepreneurial venture included co-authoring a business plan to secure $186K Small Business Administration loan and building operation from design, staffing, and production development start-up with two employees to a full-scale operation with retail and mail order distribution employing eighteen full-time and part-time staff. The business was a huge success! The a Springs Visitors Bureau promoted it as one of the top tourists’ destinations for the Pikes Peak region and it was featured in national magazine, Net Guide, as one of the first popcorn manufacturing operations utilizing web-based marketing.

With the success of her first start-up, Cindy's entrepreneurial instincts were fully engaged leading her to establish Cindy Funk & Associates, a career and human resource consulting firm in 1998, providing custom business and education solutions for small and large companies, educational institutions, and non-profit organization.

Along with her consulting work, Cindy has held previous roles including Director of the Vanderbilt University Career Center where she led a transformation effort including re-envisioning and rebranding undergraduate career services, introducing a career coaching model based on a new career theory, and integrating professional and career development into students’ co-curricular and curricular experiences.

In the 1990’s, Cindy worked at Colorado College, a nationally ranked liberal arts and sciences institution, in the Career Center gaining national recognition in the college recruiting and placement field by the National Association of Colleges and Employers.

In 2016, Cindy relocated to Portland, Oregon, with her family and has been engaged in writing, career and life coaching, and consulting for Portland State University to help it establish a cooperative education program. She is a graduate of the University of Kansas, with a B.A. in Communication Studies and M.S. in Higher Education and Administration. She has a Certificate in Management from the University of Richmond E. Claiborne Robins Graduate School of Business, certified MBTI Facilitator and Targeted Selection Interviewer, extensive training in career and life coaching, and is a graduate of the Center for Creative Leadership Strategic Leader program.
